गोविन्दवैभवम्

vavre

I chose (वव्रे) Vasudeva (वासुदेवम्) as my supporter (सहायम्) in this (अस्मिन्) war (युद्धे) instead of (पुरस्तात्) the thunderbolt-wielding (वज्रहस्तात्) Mahendra (महेन्द्रात्). He (), Krishna (कृष्णः), was found by me (मे लब्धः) for the smiting of dasyu-s (दस्युवधाय), and () I consider (मन्ये) this (एतत्) to be enjoined (विहितम्) for me (मे)  by the gods (देवतैः)

He who (यः) should wish to defeat (जिगीषेत्) the brilliant (तेजस्विनम्) and exceedingly heroic (अत्यन्तशूरम्) Krishna (कृष्णम्), son of Vasudeva (वासुदेवम्), is [like] he () who wishes to cross (उत्तितीर्षेत्) the ocean (सागरम्), the great water-vessel (महोदधिम्) of immeasurable waves (सलिलस्याप्रमेयम्), with his arms (बाहुभ्याम्).

त्रिपुरसंहारम्

Yajurveda

There were (आसन्) three (तिस्रः) cities (पुरः) of the asura-s (तेषामसुराणाम्).

The lowest (अवमा) was of iron (अयस्मयी), then of silver (अथ रजता), then of gold (अथ हरिणी).

The gods (देवाः) were unable (नाशक्नुवन्ताः) to conquer (जेतुम्) them (ताः).

Thus (एव), they desired to conquer them (अजिगीषन्) with a blockade (उपसदा).

Therefore (तस्मात्), he who (यः) knows this (एवम् वेद) and () he who does not (यो न) all said (आहुः) thus (इति): “surely (वै) with a blockade (उपसदा) they conquer (जयन्ति) the great city (महापुरम्).”

They (ते) prepared (समस्कुर्वता) an arrow (इषुम्): agni (अग्निम्) as the front point (अनीकम् ), soma (सोमम्) as the spear (शल्यम्), and vishnu (विष्णुम्) as the shaft (तेजनम्).

They (ते) spoke (अब्रुवन्) thus (इति): “who (कः) shall launch (असिष्यति) this (इमम्)?”

“Rudra” (रुद्रः).

They said (अब्रुवन्) thus (इति):

“Rudra (रुद्रः) certainly (वै) is cruel (क्रूरः), let him shoot (सोऽस्यतु, सः+अस्यतु).”

He (सः) said (अब्रवीत्): “I wish to choose (वृणा) a boon (वरम्), may I be (असानि) the overlord (अधिपतिः) of beasts (पशूनाम्).”

Therefore (तस्मात्) rudra (रुद्रः) is the overlord of beasts (पशूनामधिपतिः).

Rudra (रुद्रः) threw (अवासृजत्) it (ताम्).

Having destroyed (भित्त्वा) the three (तिस्रः) cities (पुरः), he (सः) drove away (प्राणुदत) the asuras (असुरान्) from these (एभ्यः) worlds (लोकेभ्यः).”
